1) A Healdsburg vineyard worker was crushed to death by a tractor he was driving in the Dry Creek Valley last week, according to the Press Democrat. Firefighters from the Northern Sonoma County Fire District and officers from the California Highway Patrol reportedly responded to a call about a “tractor rollover” around 8:45 a.m. Monday at a private vineyard at 6355 Mountain View Ranch Rd. First responders “eventually located the individual under the tractor” along a muddy dirt road, the PD reports. The man, whose name has not been released yet, reportedly works for Bevill Vineyard Management, a company that winemakers can hire to take care of their grapevines. More from the PD story: “Bevill founder Duff Bevill issued a statement Thursday night saying the company will cooperate with OSHA into the worker’s death. ‘He was a valued employee, a respected colleague and an excellent person,’ Bevill said in his statement. ‘We have reached out to his family and we will pay for the funeral costs and pay for the transportation expenses to reunite him with his loved ones.'” The Sonoma County Coroner and Cal/OSHA, the state’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration, are still investigating how the man died and if there were any unsafe conditions involved.
