1) Two teen boys were stabbed last Sunday night along the Foss Creek Pathway, near the Healdsburg skate park on Grove Street, according to local police. Here’s their full announcement: “At about 10:30 pm, the Healdsburg Police Department received a call from a victim of a stabbing on the Foss Creek Pathway behind the area of Carson Warner Skate Park. The victim reported that he and some of his acquaintances had been involved in an altercation with some unknown individuals and he had been stabbed during the incident. Officers responded and found a 16-year-old male with stab wounds to his back. The 16-year-old was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Officers later discovered a second 17 year old male victim that had also been stabbed during the incident was admitted to an area hospital. Both victims sustained serious injuries, but are expected to recover. Police continue to investigate what might have led to the stabbing and who else may have been involved in the altercation. The victim’s lack of cooperation has hindered the investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Healdsburg Police Department at (707) 431-3377. Tips can also be sent to [email protected].” Christian Kallen, news editor of the Healdsburg Tribune, notes in his piece on the stabbing — which will be in tomorrow’s paper — that another violent crime took place along this same stretch of the Foss Creek Pathway earlier this month. “Police logs published on April 23 indicated a sexual assault that was first reported on April 17 took place in the same area. According to the victim, the assailant had a firearm at the time of the assault,” Kallen reports. “The victim was able to identify her assailant, which led to the arrest of a 43-year-old male on April 18 at a homeless encampment on the west side of Hwy 101. An April 23 check of the county jail inmates indicates the suspect has since been released.” Kallen also notes in his piece that “the lighting system on the foot and cycle path has been inoperable recently due to the theft of copper wiring, including the area close to the scene of this incident.” Police officials proposed at a recent Healdsburg City Council meeting that public safety cameras be installed along the pathway — along with six other crime-prone locations around town — which might help deter both more thefts and more violence. There was no actual vote on the proposed camera system at the meeting, but councilmembers seemed generally supportive. They’ll be talking about it again at their budgeting meeting next month, Kallen reports. Read the full story in the Trib. (Source: Healdsburg Tribune & Healdsburg Police Department via Facebook)
